From very young to very grown up, our club is represented superbly at local and national events this season. Please check out the Facebook page for some great photos from the Otago Road Champs, thanks to Simon Rhodes and Wayne Parsons for sending these through. You know which photo got the most views, likes and comments from the whole set of photos?? Myrtle Rough, you really are such an inspiration to the whole running community in Dunedin, not just Hill City.
Special thanks to those who have volunteered their time this season at events so far, it is really appreciated!

Hill City University update 14/8/2017
Hi club members
Well done to everyone who competed in the Clyde to Alex Road Races last weekend! I haven’t seen any results on their website as yet, hopefully soon?
This weekend the Otago Road Champs are being held at Forbury Park. This is an interclub event, with entries through the Athletics Otago website closing on Thursday this week at midday. There are kids races as well for this event. If anyone is able to help marshal for this event, we need 2 from our club please- let me know if you are able to help.
The club rooms will be open again for those not competing, there may not be a kids group this weekend as I know most of the kids are racing in the road champs. Please bring something to share for afternoon tea.
Help required please: Primary and Intermediate Schools X Country- Kaikorai Valley College on FRIDAY 1st SEPT starting at 12.00pm. As usual our club is helping at the finish line and recording so if any members are able to help with this please let Morris Hall know ASAP. Ph 4544877. Need to be there 11.30 to approx 2.30pm.
Thank you to those who have returned trophies so far, if you have any at home from last season, or this season, bring them back and we will start getting ready for 2017 prizegiving.
Thank you
Merrilee

HI everyone,
Another fantastic weekend of racing has been and gone, well done to everyone who participated, some really fantastic results! There are many great photos on our club Facebook page, so if you have not seen them yet, check it out. Looks like some muddy good fun was had.
This weekend, we are heading to the Caversham club, contrary to what is says in the programme online. They are situated on Middleton Road in Corstophine, and are looking forward to hosting us and showing us the gruelling hlls that makes them so tough. They have a large walkers group as well as a kids club, so everone should have a great time. Please meet at their clubrooms ready to start by 1.30pm, a little earlier than us. Bring a plate to share for afternoon tea also. If anyone neds a ride, sing out.
On the 29th July, we have our annual club event, the T K Cowan (my Grandad) handicap race. THere will also be a kids run. It is a great event, held out at the Tomahawk community hall. I encourage you all to give this race a whirl, its a nice wee challenge, with a bit of every kind of terrain. We should have times for you all by now, so you dont need to do anything to register for this event. We will need marshals to make this event possible please, so rope in a family member if you are running.
Peninsula Relay- 5th August: Is a relay event organised by Athletics Otago, see there website for more details. Please let me know if you would like to enter this and we will make a team for you. We also need to provide marshals for this event, from 1215 til approx 3pm, so please let me know if you can help out:)
Thanks again

This weekend, 8th July, we return to the clubrooms for a social run/walk in between what is now becoming a very busy race calendar. Please bring a plate for afternoon tea. There will be a kids run also.
The following weekend, 15th July, we have some more racing fun at the Otago Cross Country Champs at Wakouaiti. Same entry process applies through the Athletics Otago website. Let me know if you need any help with this. Entries close at midday on Thursday 13th July.

Hill City University update 21/6/17
Hello everyone,
As its National Volunteers week, I would like to make a special acknowledgement of Lisa Neilson. Lisa makes the finest pots of tea since way back, and is always at the club on a Saturday to help us all out by getting afternoon tea sorted. Thank you Lisa, we really appreciate your endless help.
After a very exciting weekend with Bella Bloomfield and Romain Mirosa doing incredibly well in the Wellington Marathon, both picking up medals in their age groups for the New Zealand Marathon Champs. As well as this Drew Cairney, William Scharpf, Josh Hou and George Bates performed very well at the National Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs in Christchurch.
The second Athletics Otago Childrens Cross Country was hosted by Caversham club on Sunday also, lovely to see many of our smaller but speedy athletes enjoying them selves and picking up some more ribbons for their collection. Well done!
This weekend we are meeting up with the Ariki club at their clubrooms at Bayfield Park at 1.30pm, from there we will head up to Rotary Park for our annual cross country event with them. This is a very fun run, and its handicapped, my favourite! Our club rooms will not be open this day, so if you need a ride to the Ariki clubrooms, please sing out and this can be arranged. Kids can also participate in this run. If you are new to the club this year, and you know your 5km time, please forward it to me to send to the math-magician.
On the 1st July, the Edmond Cup Race is on at Wingatui. Entry is on the Athletics Otago website. Entries close on the 29th June. We are the duty club for this event so we need helpers please with setting up the course, taking it down after and race officiating. Please can you help if you havent already helped with an event.
Thank you
Merrilee:)
