Hill City Uni update 21/5/2018

Hi everyone,

Well! What an exciting day at the Ponydales cross country relays last weekend, well done everyone!! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, it sure is a toughy to make the legs and lungs burn.

This weekend we are heading to Forbury Park Raceway, St Kilda, to continue with thie horsey theme. This is a 5km, flat course around the horse raceway. It is the first time HCU have joined the other Dunedin clubs to do this, but its a great way to get 5km times for everyone to help us place you better in upcoming events. So, we will meet at 1.30pm there at race course side. Come and get a race number from us, wear your club singlet, and we will get underway at 1.45pm for the kids, and about 2pm for everyone else. If you need transport, please let me know and ill arrange this. There is also a bus that goes out that way every 10mins or so from town. No charge for this event

Takahe to Akaroa– National Road Relays 6th October: We are starting our planning towards getting teams to this again this year. Please register your interest with me and we will have a bit of a meeting to talk about plans/funding etc in the next few weeks. We will be able to have senior mens and womens, masters, and social teams this year, so let me know if you are keen. Heres the link to check out https://takahe2akaroa.nz/

Registrations: Thanks to all those who have registered with the club. If you have not done this already, it is well overdue! Get a wriggle on, you know who you are…..! If you have registered as a competitive member, Ill bring your number along this weekend.

Hill City Uni update 24/8/2017

Hi team,

Another weekend of racing, another set of fantastic results. Well done to all thise who entered, raced and achieved such great results! From very young to very grown up, our club is represented superbly at local and national events this season. Please check out the Facebook page for some great photos from the Otago Road Champs, thanks to Simon Rhodes and Wayne Parsons for sending these through. You know which photo got the most views, likes and comments from the whole set of photos?? Myrtle Rough, you really are such an inspiration to the whole running community in Dunedin, not just Hill City.

Special thanks to those who have volunteered their time this season at events so far, it is really appreciated!

This weekend, (where there was a glitch in the programme after Clyde to Alex changed their date) we are having a clu run and walk. Looks like the weather is going to be stellar again, so lets get together at the clubrooms and enjoy the weather together. See what I did there? 1.30pm for a 2pm kick off.

National Road Relays– A team will be heading off to Christchurch to compete, we wish you well look forward to hearing from them about this.

Childrens Summer Athletics– Registrations will be held on the 19th and 26th of September, more details to follow soon.

AGM- will now be held on the 30th September, slight date change. Put this in your calendars, there will be a club run prior with the AGM starting around 3.30pm.

Shoe Clinic Hill Free Half Marathon– Preparations are coming along nicely for this which is our biggest club fund raiser, 8th October. All members expected to help out please, I will put out an email in the next few weeks to get names, thanks in advance.

Hill City University update 14/8/2017

Hi club members

Well done to everyone who competed in the Clyde to Alex Road Races last weekend! I haven’t seen any results on their website as yet, hopefully soon?

This weekend the Otago Road Champs are being held at Forbury Park. This is an interclub event, with entries through the Athletics Otago website closing on Thursday this week at midday. There are kids races as well for this event. If anyone is able to help marshal for this event, we need 2 from our club please- let me know if you are able to help.

The club rooms will be open again for those not competing, there may not be a kids group this weekend as I know most of the kids are racing in the road champs. Please bring something to share for afternoon tea.

Help required please: Primary and Intermediate Schools X Country- Kaikorai Valley College on FRIDAY 1st SEPT starting at 12.00pm. As usual our club is helping at the finish line and recording so if any members are able to help with this please let Morris Hall know ASAP.  Ph 4544877.  Need to be there 11.30 to approx 2.30pm.

Thank you to those who have returned trophies so far, if you have any at home from last season, or this season, bring them back and we will start getting ready for 2017 prizegiving.

Thank you

Hill City University update 19/7/17

HI everyone,

Another fantastic weekend of racing has been and gone, well done to everyone who participated, some really fantastic results! There are many great photos on our club Facebook page, so if you have not seen them yet, check it out. Looks like some muddy good fun was had.

This weekend, we are heading to the Caversham club, contrary to what is says in the programme online. They are situated on Middleton Road in Corstophine, and are looking forward to hosting us and showing us the gruelling hlls that makes them so tough. They have a large walkers group as well as a kids club, so everone should have a great time. Please meet at their clubrooms ready to start by 1.30pm, a little earlier than us. Bring a plate to share for afternoon tea also. If anyone neds a ride, sing out.

On the 29th July, we have our annual club event, the T K Cowan (my Grandad) handicap race. THere will also be a kids run. It is a great event, held out at the Tomahawk community hall. I encourage you all to give this race a whirl, its a nice wee challenge, with a bit of every kind of terrain. We should have times for you all by now, so you dont need to do anything to register for this event. We will need marshals to make this event possible please, so rope in a family member if you are running.

Peninsula Relay- 5th August: Is a relay event organised by Athletics Otago, see there website for more details. Please let me know if you would like to enter this and we will make a team for you. We also need to provide marshals for this event, from 1215 til approx 3pm, so please let me know if you can help out:)

Thanks again
